Nineteen of the Russian's 21 titles have been achieved on hard courts

A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his maiden trophy for 882 days with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has endured a difficult season, managing just a single victory at the Grand Slams and undergoing a setback at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in specific - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with long-term mentor his previous coach.

Presently working with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the last few weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought competitive win over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's maiden title after the Italian tournament and first on a hard court since March of 2023.

Victory also indicates Medvedev has won 21 championships at twenty-one different events.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a tournament with my children at once, so to get a title is especially meaningful," said tennis professional the champion.

"This championship is in tribute of my child my daughter, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his last six finals, including in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's retrieving strategy and regular outbursts on the tennis court had prompted some to doubt if his capacity to play at the elite level was finished.

Yet the athlete has altered his approach in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and play positively, backed up by an improved service.

The champion came back from a break down in the first set against the tricky Moutet, securing four of the concluding five games to gain the advantage.

The competitors traded service breaks in the second set before the challenger, striving for his initial professional championship, took control to force a third set.

The opponent rescued 4 early-game opportunities in a tight deciding set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to secure the win.

Fittingly, he secured victory with a point at the net, with his opponent unable to handle a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
